‘Emily’ fountain in Winter Park’s Central Park restored

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park’s “Emily” fountain is back to her former bronze glory.

The fountain, featuring a woman playing a harp, lives in the heart of Central Park.

Davis Restoration gave her a full cleaning and restoration last week.

Linda Kulmann, archivist with the Winter Park History Museum, said the fountain was modeled after sculptor Albin Polasek’s wife.

Polasek, a world-renowned sculptor, lived in Winter Park. More of his work is on display at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens in downtown Winter Park.

In 1984, Emily Polasek donated a bronze copy of the original piece to the City of Winter Park in commemoration of the 25th Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.
