Ex-Boy Scout leader facing child porn charges ordered to get outpatient treatment

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Boy Scout leader charged with possession of child pornography has been ordered to undergo outpatient treatment.

Police said Fleetwood Peeples Jr. admitted to having pornographic images and to molesting about a dozen boys during camping trips when he was a Boy Scouts of America leader.

The allegations date back to at least 1980, police said.

Peeples Jr. was arrested earlier this year on charges of possession of child porn. But because the court did not believe he was a danger, he was ordered to get outpatient treatment.

The court also ruled on Wednesday that he wasn't competent to stand trial.

After his arrest, a victim came forward to say that Peeples' father and namesake of a popular park in Winter Park was a child molester.

Katherine Sanderline said it was horrible to hear about the latest family allegation.

"I was saddened when I see those pictures because, you know, what that child faced and what I faced was unfathomable," said Sanderline.

"It's solely dealing with his mental state, not whether or not the state thinks he will do this again. Solely his treatment and where his treatment should be had," said WFTV legal analyst Belvin Perry.

Peeples' next competency hearing is in July 2015.
