LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The father of a man accused in a DeLand double homicide case has been granted a $100,000 bond after appearing before a Lake County judge.
Daytron W. Etkins, 41, of Eustis, was arrested Friday and charged with accessory after the fact, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Investigators said Etkins is the father of homicide suspect Keyan Rundell and is accused of knowingly helping his son after the killings while taking steps to help him avoid law enforcement.
During a first appearance hearing in Lake County, a judge set Etkins’ bond at $100,000.
Etkins was arrested with the assistance of law enforcement agencies in Lake County. Authorities also executed a search warrant at his residence on Bates Avenue in Eustis as part of the investigation.
Police said investigators developed probable cause that Etkins assisted Rundell following the homicides.
The double homicide investigation remains active and ongoing, according to DeLand police.
Authorities have not released additional details about the allegations against Etkins beyond the accessory charge.
