PALM BAY, Fla. — The city of Palm Bay is under investigation by agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Channel 9's Melonie Holt learned.
Officials with FDLE would not say what they were investigating, but Palm Bay’s city manager told Eyewitness News that the city has faced questions about its handling of state and federal grant funds.
Some of the issues raised date back to before the tenure of the current city manager Gregg Lynk. He said he’s dealing with the concerns raised by the city's partners and doesn't believe there's been any wrongdoing.
City leaders was asked last week to explain a $454,000 allocation of state housing initiatives partnership funds to a single home in the Wounded Warrior's program. The program provides homes to wounded veterans.
Lynk said Thursday that there was a simple explanation, it didn't happen.
“It was noted as an entry error and we are fully reconciling it with our partners, the Florida Housing Coalition,” Lynk said.
Lynk said he’s working to reconcile expenses in the program dating back to 2011.

In the meantime, Lynk is also appealing a sanction on some federal grant dollars due to an issue with the timeliness of a paperwork submission.
“Listen, if we have to clean up some of the past, we're going to do that, and that will help us prepare for the future,” Lynk said.
