LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Federal authorities are investigating after a small plane crashed Friday morning in a rural area of Lake County, injuring one person.
The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Waco 2T-1A-2. The FAA said the plane crashed near Seminole Lake Gliderport in Clermont around 9:50 a.m.
Two people were aboard the plane.
Local emergency crews received the initial call around 9:41 a.m. near Cloud Street, just west of State Road 33 and south of Groveland.
The Groveland Fire Department and Lake County Fire Rescue responded to the crash.
One occupant suffered burn injuries and was flown to a hospital by helicopter. The other occupant refused treatment at the scene, according to preliminary information.
The FAA will investigate the crash. The agency said the information remains preliminary and is subject to change.
Officials have not released the identities of the people aboard or an update on the condition of the person taken to the hospital.
