But according to a department memo from the Office of Professional Standards, the department terminated her after she tested positive for a cocaine in a monthly random drug screening.
In Solomon’s long career with Daytona Beach, she spend six years on a narcotics task force and worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration twice between 2002 and 2004.
The department would not comment on her termination.
Solomon’s attorney said over the phone he is in the process of reviewing her case.
According to the department’s memo, Solomon consistently denied any cocaine use and said she would fight the result.
She also said someone may have slipped something into her a drink when she wasn’t looking because she liked to drink, and is not a drug user, or someone may have tampered with her drug test.
Officials would not say whether Solomon has been under the influence of drugs while on duty.
Although the department would not comment on Solomon’s termination, Chief Mike Chitwood said she was a good employee with a clean record.
