HOLLY HILL, Fla. — Firefighters rescued three cats from a burning home in Holly Hill Sunday afternoon, according to the Holly Hill Fire Department.
Emergency crews were dispatched to a house fire at 911 Daytona Ave. shortly before 1 p.m.
Upon their arrival, fighters said they saw flames flaring through the roof of a two-story home.
They said the fire spread from the home’s chimney to its walls.
"I wouldn't trust the chimneys in these [old houses] unless you get them inspected because it's all old mortar in there,” said Fire Chief Jim Bland. “All it takes is a little bit [of fire]."
Firefighters provided oxygen to three cats that were rescued from the home, which was constructed in 1925.
No one was injured by the fire, but the home was destroyed, Bland said.
