Fla. jury convicts Russian prostitution ring

ORLANDO, Fla.,None — A jury in Florida has convicted six Eastern
European residents of running a prostitution ring in the United
States.

The federal jury in Orlando on Tuesday convicted the six defendants, five women and one man, of promoting a prostitution business, conspiracy and interstate
commerce to promote a prostitution business.

Prosecutors alleged that the six defendants offered prostitution
services in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia and Massachusetts.
The defendants were citizens of Moldova, Russia and the Ukraine.
They were in the United States illegally and were not authorized to
work.

There were a total of 11 people on trial, but the rest were acquitted and the ringleader fled the country.

A sentencing date has been set for February.
