FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — The Flagler Beach Historical Museum is celebrating 25 years of preserving and sharing the community’s history.
The museum will celebrate its anniversary with a community reception on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the museum, located at 207 S. Central Ave. in Flagler Beach.
Founded in 2001, the museum has spent a quarter-century gathering, preserving and displaying artifacts and stories connected to the history of Flagler Beach and nearby areas.
The upcoming celebration will feature the presentation of the inaugural Catherine Wilson Award to two young adults recognized for their commitment to local history preservation.
The award honors Wilson, a founding member of the museum. The recognition reflects the institution’s focus on encouraging younger generations to take on the responsibility of preserving local history.
Sheila Pillath serves as the executive director of the Flagler Beach Historical Museum, alongside Board Chair Cindy Dalecki Morrissey.
“This anniversary is about so much more than a number,” Pillath said. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate everyone who has played a part in the Museum’s story and to look ahead to the people who will carry that story forward. Founding members like Wilson understood the importance of preserving our history and it is especially meaningful to honor her legacy by recognizing young people who are helping ensure that our history continues to be remembered and shared.”
Guided by its official mission statement, “Know the Past. Shape the Future.,” the museum is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the facility is free.
