FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has announced the first recipients of its “Great Kid” Award for the 2026-27 school year, recognizing students who demonstrate leadership, character, and a commitment to helping others.
The September honorees are:
- Melania Zuck, a fourth-grade student at Belle Terre Elementary School, recognized for her positive attitude, perseverance and willingness to help others.
- Sanai Singleton, an eighth-grade student at Indian Trails Middle School, was honored for her leadership and efforts to help new students feel welcome at school.
- Wiley Conner, a senior at Matanzas High School, is recognized as a student-athlete who balances varsity sports and academics while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
Sheriff Rick Staly said the students stood out for their work ethic, leadership, and positive attitudes.
The Great Kid Awards are presented each month during the school year to one elementary, one middle, and one high school student who exemplify good character, academic effort, and service to their school communities. Students are nominated by school resource deputies and school staff.
