Flooding closes West Melbourne roads and relocates polling places on Election Day

Closures affect Minton Road, Haven Drive and other areas in an update issued Tuesday morning

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — Flooding has closed several roads and intersections in West Melbourne, according to an update issued at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Drivers were urged to travel safely and slowly, particularly near flooded neighborhoods, where wakes from passing vehicles could push water into homes.

Areas closed as of 8 a.m.

The update listed the following closures:

  • Minton Road northbound at Henry Avenue
  • Minton Road southbound at U.S. 192
  • Haven Drive at Morris Court
  • Haven Drive at U.S. 192
  • Sheridan Road at John Rodes Boulevard
  • Minton Road from Calvary Chapel Melbourne to Carriage Gate

The notice also listed “U.S. 192 to John Rodes Boulevard Northbound” as closed, without specifying the road or exact segment.

Officials said they were continuing to evaluate flooded areas for safe travel.

Flooding has also forced several Brevard County polling places to relocate for Election Day. Voters should check their assigned location before leaving home.
