ASTOR, Fla. — Residents in Astor are being urged to remain alert as additional rainfall in the forecast is expected to push water levels higher along the St. Johns River before conditions begin to improve.
According to Lake County Emergency Management, recent and forecasted rain could cause river levels to rise before eventually receding.
County officials say they are closely monitoring conditions and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
In the meantime, self-service sandbags remain available to Lake and Volusia County residents at Lake County Fire Rescue Station 10, located at 23023 State Road 40 in Astor.

Drivers should never attempt to drive through flooded roadways, go around barricades, or ignore posted warning signs.
Parents are encouraged to keep children and pets away from floodwaters.
Boaters traveling through Astor are also being asked to maintain idle speed and no-wake conditions to help minimize the impact on properties already affected by flooding.

Pearl Street Boat Ramp: 25140 E. Pearl Street, Astor.
