, Fla. — The Florida Commission on Offender Review voted Wednesday to move up Crosley Green’s parole date by five years, but his attorneys say they are disappointed the reduction was not greater.
Green, who has spent more than three decades in prison for the 1989 murder of Charles “Chip” Flynn in Mims, will now have a parole date of June 2, 2049, when he would be 91 years old.
Green’s legal team had asked the commission to reduce his parole date by 312 months, which attorney Keith Harrison said would have made him eligible for parole within months.
“We’re deeply disappointed with the outcome,” Harrison said after the hearing.
During the hearing, family members and supporters urged commissioners to grant Green his freedom. But, Kim Hallock Landers, who survived the 1989 attack that killed Flynn, opposed Green’s release, calling him “a cold-blooded killer.”
Green was originally sentenced to death before his sentence was reduced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned in 2018, but that ruling was later reversed by a federal appeals court, and the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case.
Harrison said Green’s legal team will continue pursuing other avenues for his release, including a pending appeal challenging the calculation of his previous parole date and a possible request for clemency.
