Boy, 3, hospitalized after ‘accidental’ shooting in Osceola County, deputies say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a child hurt Thursday afternoon near Kissimmee.

It happened off Amber Way in the Poinciana community.

Deputies responded to the house around 3:30 p.m. and found that a boy, age 3, had suffered a single gunshot wound.

According to the deputies, the boy shot himself after locating a gun inside the home.

He was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital.

He suffered significant injuries but was “in stable condition” as of Thursday evening, sheriff’s investigators said.

The agency said in a news release, “We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events just prior.”

Investigators also called the shooting an “isolated incident” and said there was no danger to the public.
