TAVARES, Fla. — A 21-year-old woman accused of pulling the trigger in a drive-by shooting that injured a 2-year-old Tavares girl was arrested Friday after a friend turned her in, police said.

Micqueala Williams was arrested in Pine Hills by Orange County deputies, the Tavares Police Department said.

Investigators were able to track her down after she reached out to an old friend who, upon learning Williams was wanted by police, told police where she was.

Alicia Winters was accused of driving the Chevrolet Malibu from which the shots were fired Tuesday and turned herself in earlier in the day Friday.

Winters' mother was arrested Thursday night after police said she helped her daughter avoid arrest. The mother was released once she decided to cooperate with the investigation, police said.

One other person, who has not been identified, is still being sought in connection with the shooting.

Pierce is recovering.

“She’s doing good. It’s a work in progress. She’s still hurting but it’s OK,” said the child’s mother, Tiffany Collins.

Bullets also struck the apartment, a fence and a window next door.

Investigators said the shooting was the result of a dispute between Collins and Williams, who they said came back later in the Malibu.

“Over a cup of water thrown on her car, and her dog. That’s just ridiculous, and I would never take nothing that far,” said Collins.

Collins said the suspect at the center of the shooting is also a mother, which she said makes it all the more shocking.

“Yeah, she had a child and she probably should have thought about it before,” said Collins.
