EUSTIS, Fla. — A funeral was held on Saturday for the victim who was killed in a shooting at a Eustis auto parts store on July 11.
Rose Nelson, 54, was fatally wounded when her ex-boyfriend, Gilberto Rivera, opened fire inside the Advance Discount Auto Parts store. Rivera was shot and killed by deputies during a standoff shortly after.
Another woman, Trena Perkins, suffered a gunshot wound to the hand during the incident. Perkins was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
WFTV spoke to Nelson's family members who remember her as a caring person.
"Everybody knows my mom in that store, everybody does, because she's the nicest kind of person you'll ever meet around here," said Nelson's stepson, Ivan Hubbard.
"She was just the best sister," said Nelson's brother, James Goldwire. "She was really sweet. She would help anybody out. I loved her."
A viewing for Rose Nelson was held on Friday at the Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Eustis. Nelson's funeral was at the First United Methodist Church in Eustis on Saturday.
