VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Four people are facing charges after a brutal beating at Tiger Bay State Forest in Daytona Beach.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the victim is physically disabled and was attacked during a bonfire at the park.
The beating was captured on cell phone video. The sheriff released the video, but Channel 9 has decided not to show it because of its graphic nature.
The four people arrested are:
- Cody Stripling, 18
- Logan Levesque, 18
- Sebastian Bowers, 19
- Casey Knight, 19
Chitwood said the victim didn’t know anyone at the bonfire other than the friend he attended with.
The sheriff criticized the group for targeting someone who couldn’t defend himself.
The charges range from battery by strangulation to battery on a disabled adult. The person who recorded the beating is also facing charges.
Chitwood said this is likely the third incident involving fights at parties in remote wooded areas of Volusia County. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to identify these gatherings and is looking at ways to better monitor social media posts advertising them.
The sheriff also said the victim suffered serious injuries but is expected to be OK.
All four people arrested remain in jail and are being held without bond.
