Hagerty teacher arrested on child porn charges remains jailed

OVIEDO, Fla. — A Seminole County teacher accused of trading and paying for naked pictures of an underage Colorado girl will remain jailed.

Hagerty High School teacher Gregory Vaughn, 58, is accused of exchanging nude photos with a girl from Colorado, according to authorities.

Investigators said the psychology teacher met the victim on a website, and the two began exchanging sexually explicit emails that included nude photos of both Vaughn and the girl.

According to the police report, Vaughn paid the girl for various photos. The report says the suspect and the girl also performed sex acts via Skype.

Vaughn is accused of sending the victim packages that contained books, candy, clothes, underwear and makeup in exchange for the photos.

Vaughn, a divorced father of two, was arrested by FBI agents on Friday and allegedly admitted to the crimes. Authorities said he told them that it was therapy and that he was only trying to help the girl.

An FBI agent testified Tuesday that Vaughn was involved in another investigation in the 1990s, but Vaughn's public defender argued the relevance of the investigation.

Prosecutors dropped that line of questioning, but also said authorities believe that there are other potential victims.

Vaughn also worked as a freelance photographer. A preliminary sweep of his electronics allegedly uncovered pictures of children at beaches and baseball games. Other deleted pictures showed private parts of girls between the ages of 13 and 16, authorities said.

Vaughn's bond hearing has been postponed.
