Heat & humidity could give way to strong storms Thursday

Afternoon and evening storms could pack a punch in parts of the Channel 9 viewing area.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Another hot and humid day is in store across Central Florida.

Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 90s and heat indices will top out around 100 to 102 degrees.

Meteorologist Kassandra Crimi says storms will build through the afternoon and evening, with a 60% chance of rain across the region.

The storms that develop throughout the Channel 9 viewing area could pack a punch, with frequent lightning and gusty winds up to 55 mph.

Locally heavy rain could once again lead to some temporary flooding, Crimi said. This risk will be highest in urban and poor-drainage areas.
