MELBOURNE, Fla. — Wave after wave of rain has pounded Florida’s east coast from Palm Coast to Palm Bay, prompting a flash flood warning for southern Brevard County for most of the evening.
Between 6 and 8 inches of rain had fallen between Melbourne and Palm Bay by 6 p.m. with more expected.
The flash flood warning was issued until 9:15 p.m. because of the risk of quickly rising flood waters, one of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Irma.
The rain will weaken later into the night, according to WFTV meterologist George Waldenberger.
