TAMPA, Fla. — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton addressed supporters Friday evening during a rally near Tampa.

Thousands packed the Florida State Fairgrounds to hear her speak.

Clinton told the crowd she was displeased by the rhetoric that emerged from this week's Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

"Something has gone terribly wrong when one speaker says, 'Vote your conscience' and gets booed," Clinton said during the speech. "I mean, I never thought I would say these words, but Ted Cruz was right."

Clinton said Republicans are trying to exploit the nation's divisions.

"The last thing we need in this country is leaders who divide us more than we already are," she said. "I want our children to be able to enjoy the fruits of equality."

The presidential candidate also mentioned the importance of the I-4 Corridor in November's election.

Clinton told the crowd her campaign is hiring organizers in Florida.

"My last thought for you today," Clinton said. "Just remember love trumps hate."

Many expect Clinton to announce her running mate Saturday.
