Holiday woman dies in U.S. 19 crash

Two other people were injured in the Tuesday afternoon collision in Holiday.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A woman died following a crash Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 19 in Holiday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 34-year-old Holiday woman was driving a Toyota 4Runner north on U.S. 19 at about 4:30 p.m.

For an unknown reason, the SUV drifted onto the outside shoulder and continued for several hundred feet before colliding with a Hyundai Elantra stopped at a red light on Continental Drive, FHP said.

The Elantra’s driver, a 59-year-old Holiday woman, and her passenger, a 38-year-old Holiday man, were injured. The SUV’s driver was also hurt.

All three were taken to an area hospital, where the Elantra’s driver later died from her injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
