FLORIDA — Insured losses from Hurricane Isaias are approaching $582 million in Florida as residents and businesses continue recovering from the storm.
Nearly 55,000 insurance claims have been filed statewide, with most coming from the western Panhandle. About 47,000 of those claims involve residential property.
Florida has also requested roughly $237 million in federal disaster assistance following the hurricane. The request seeks assistance for local governments and infrastructure, along with aid for eligible residents in some of the hardest-hit counties.
Six deaths in Florida have been linked to the storm.
The loss totals remain preliminary as insurers continue processing claims and assessing damage.
