The son of prominent local former journalist and Orange County Tourist Development Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force Co-Chair Jane E. Healy was arrested during a traffic stop July 21 as part of an Orlando Police Department narcotics investigation.

A search of a home Healy owns at 813 Greenwood St. near downtown Orlando revealed several narcotics, and it has been the scene of “multiple citizen complaints regarding illegal activity,” said a July 24 news release from the Orlando Police Department. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Randall Healy Clark — the son of Jane Healy, according to a Florida Politics report — and three other individuals. The OPD report specifically mentioned “the owner of the home” — Jane Healy — was not arrested.

The significance of Jane Healy — a Pulitzer Prize-winning former Orlando Sentinel managing editor — is her role on the county’s TDT task force, which is helping provide Orange County leaders with guidance on how to spend millions of dollars in tourist development tax dollars. The group’s recommendations will be presented to Orange County leaders on July 25, and Healy played a key role in leading the task force through the deliberations and presenting the applications to county leaders.
