Deputies search for Orange Co. school bus stop flasher

ORANGE COUNTY, FL — Orange County deputies are on the lookout for a man who they say is flashing middle school children at their bus stop on East Colonial Drive, near Chickasaw Trail.

They said he has appeared there three times in the past week.

The students told their parents, who then called school administrators and the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

WFTV talked to some of the students who have seen the man. They said he usually hangs out near a Dumpster.

"He was standing in the corner, trying to see if he was getting our attention," said a girl who did not want to be identified.

After the most recent incident on Tuesday, a deputy went to Sue Ann Street and East Colonial Drive to investigate, but the man took off on a beat up bicycle before he could be caught.

Parents are now escorting their sixth and seventh-graders to the bus stop.

"I come here every morning and stay with her until the bus comes," said parent Claridel Martinez.

"We were waiting to go to school. We have this image in our heads and we can't focus," said student Seidy Cotto. "First of all, there are little kids here, and we are minors and he is, like, traumatizing some of us."

Deputies said the man usually appears at about 8:30 a.m.

Investigators said the man was described as a black male between 35 and 40 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

Deputies said they will continue to investigate the ongoing problem.
