Lake Co. residents cleaning up after major storm

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The National Weather Service said it does not plan to investigate the damage that Lake County residents said was caused by a tornado near Winter Garden overnight.

Even if it wasn't a tornado, residents said they have a major clean up ahead of them.

It's been a long night and an exhausting day for residents who live here along John's Lake.

One family's pool enclosure was wrapped around the house and stuck in a tree next door.

"Big bang on the top of the house and the lights went out," said resident Maryann Kelly. "You walk back, pool's here, that's it. We said, 'Oh, my God, call the insurance company.'"

Insurance adjusters, tree trimmers and the power company were cleaning away debris, reconnecting power lines and evaluating the damage from the storm.

"Very definitely, we think the elevated pieces of the metal into the tree tells you tornado. Oh yes, very much. That's right," said homeowner Dana Kelly.

However, the National Weather Service has not confirmed that.

There were no injuries reported, and the power was restored.
