LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — More than 30 businesses were busted last week when employees sold alcohol to minors, Lake County deputies said.
The undercover bust targeted 92 stores May 24 - May 25 across the county, and 32 of the stores allowed confidential informants under the age of 21 to purchase alcohol, deputies said.

The 32 people accused of selling the alcohol were issued misdemeanor summonses to appear in court for the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor, deputies said.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office conducted the operations in an attempt to help eliminate underage drinking, deputies said.
"The state can come in and say, 'We're going to take your liquor licenses if you keep selling to those under 21,'" Fred Jones told Channel 9's Myrt Price.
Officials told Eyewitness News that they believe the busts keep happening because employees aren't properly trained to check identification when people purchase alcohol.
