Lady Lake Christmas parade canceled due to rising public safety costs

The Town of Lady Lake has officially canceled its annual Christmas parade due to several budget constraints

LADY LAKE, Fla. — The Town of Lady Lake is canceling its annual Christmas parade due to budget constraints, staffing costs and revenue uncertainty surrounding Amendment three.

Town officials cited the financial strain of public safety staffing as a primary factor for the cancellation. Keeping the annual holiday parade safe requires heavy police and public safety overtime.

Moving forward, the town is changing how it finances local public gatherings. Future community events in Lady Lake will rely on sponsorships and outside funding instead of taxpayer dollars.
