LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A Lake County woman appeared in court Thursday for trying to turn a stray dog into the wrong animal shelter.
Hunter File said she spotted a dog while on her way to the grocery store in Orange County last month.

When File ran into obstacles while trying to surrender the dog in Orange County, she took it to Lake County.
Animal Services would not take the dog from her because she did not find the dog in that county.

The woman then lied about where the dog came from and was fined $500.

No decision was made about whether she will have to pay the fine, but a special master will review the case and make a decision this week.
