POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A fire that spread across hundreds of acres in Polk County on Wednesday is contained, but not extinguished, Polk County Fire Rescue said.
Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service have crews on standby should the fire intensify, as windy weather still poses a threat.

The blaze started Wednesday afternoon in the Indian Lake Estates area of Frostproof.
Officials said no one was injured, and it appears as though any property damage was limited to sheds and vehicles.
Some properties were destroyed outside the Indian Lake Estates near County Road 630 and State Road 60. The Florida Forest Service is focusing on that area, and drivers are asked to remain cautious.
