Local dealership accused of rolling back nearly a dozen car odometers

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News discovered 11 out of 32 cars at Green Fox Auto Sales is accused of rolling back odometers or replacing them, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ricardo Joseph was recently arrested on suspicion of fraud and grand theft.

Eyewitness News stopped by the dealership to talk to Joseph Monday. When we showed back up, our crew was greeted by another man.

“Nah, nah, you could go, it ain't no big deal,” said the man.

Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Deal asked the man, “It’s not a big deal to roll back odometers?”

“We didn’t roll back no odometers,” said the man.

Troopers said a woman claimed Green Fox Auto Sales didn’t title or register the car she bought. She said she became suspicious and discovered the odometer showed more than 100,000 fewer miles than the car had at one time.

In fact, when state inspectors showed up to the dealership, inspectors said 11 of the 32 cars on the lot showed fewer miles than when Joseph bought them. A 12th video was in the process of having its odometer cluster replaced, said investigators.

Joseph told inspectors the vehicles all had faulty odometers that had to be replaced, investigators said.

He is facing 12 different fraud charges for possessing cars with tampered odometers

Joseph told investigators he notified potential buyers the odometer clusters had been replaced and the mileage is not correct.
