ORLANDO, Fla. — LYNX is proposing system-wide service changes that could take effect Dec. 13, including the elimination of one route, discontinued trips and major routing changes across Central Florida.
The LYNX Board of Directors is scheduled to vote on the proposal at its Oct. 22 meeting at LYNX Central Station.
The proposal calls for discontinuing Link 701, the Orange Technical College Shuttle, and eliminating some trips on Links 1, 10, 56, 102 and 426.
LYNX is also proposing major routing changes on Links 6 and 407, routing changes on Links 43 and 311, schedule adjustments on several other routes and frequency changes on Links 48 and 49.
Route and trip cuts
Under the proposal, Link 701 would be discontinued. LYNX said riders could use NeighborLinks 811 and 812 as replacements.
Link 1, which serves Winter Park, Eatonville and Maitland, would lose its weekday 8:20 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. trips from Winter Park SunRail and all Saturday service.
Link 10 would lose several early morning and late evening trips between the Kissimmee Intermodal Station and U.S. 192/Live Oak. Link 56 would lose two early morning weekday trips between Plaza del Sol and the Kissimmee Intermodal Station.
Link 426 would lose weekday 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. trips from the Poinciana Walmart.
Major routing changes
Link 6 would no longer operate between the Colonial Plaza SuperStop and Lakemont Avenue/Aloma Avenue.
Link 407, which connects Kissimmee, Orlando International Airport and Medical City, would see reduced daily service to Lake Nona.
The route would shift to Landstar Boulevard, Meadow Woods SunRail and Wetherbee Road and would no longer use State Road 417. It would also make all local stops between the Kissimmee Intermodal Station and Orlando International Airport.
Link 311, which serves Disney, Orlando International Airport and Universal Epic Universe, would stop using Tradeshow Boulevard on eastbound trips and instead use Universal Boulevard.
More frequent weekend service on some routes
The proposal would increase Saturday service on Link 48 to every 30 minutes until 7:45 p.m.
Link 49 would also increase Saturday service to every 30 minutes until 7:30 p.m. and add a 12:15 a.m. trip from LYNX Central Station to the Rosemont SuperStop on Saturdays and Sundays.
Several other routes would receive schedule adjustments, including Links 13, 18, 20, 23, 26, 36, 42, 51, 57 and 107.
Public meetings planned
LYNX will hold information sessions Sept. 21 in Kissimmee and Sept. 22 in Orlando. A virtual information session is also scheduled for the evening of Sept. 22.
A public workshop and hearing are scheduled for Sept. 29 at LYNX Central Station.
Public comments will also be accepted from Sept. 18 through 5 p.m. Oct. 12.
LYNX said the proposal is subject to change.
