MAITLAND, Fla. — Parents of Maitland Middle School students packed a PTA meeting Tuesday night to press school leaders for answers to their questions regarding school safety.

Security was increased Monday at the school after multiple fights and a social media threat.

Parents told Channel 9 they still have many questions after learning of a possible school shooting and teen gang members allegedly attacking students.

The principal said she called extra police for patrols after five students jumped another student on Friday.

She said the students have been suspended and she doesn’t feel anything criminal took place.

Parents were also concerned after getting an alert about a threatening post on social media saying a student was going to get beat up on Monday.

The post has emojis of guns.

Parents were still at the meeting late Tuesday night
