MAITLAND, Fla. — Residents in Maitland gathered to speak out about a proposed development in downtown Maitland that’s been in the works for two years.
The project would include shops, restaurants, a parking garage and office space, but not everyone thinks it’s a good fit.
Developers have been working on the proposed project for two years.
Many residents spoke in favor of the development.
They claim it could bring more life to Maitland, but some fear it would also bring more traffic to Horatio Avenue, which is already a busy street.
“It sure scared the stuffing out of me,” said resident Tom Mele. “Give more consideration to moving the project north. We don’t want to get rid of the green. We want a Winter Park-type of environment.”
City leaders are still split on where the project would be built.
