KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A six-day manhunt ended Sunday night when a 45-year-old man was arrested in Orange County on charges of killing his estranged wife, authorities said.

Alex Olivencia-Alvarado was booked into the Osceola County Jail, where he's being held without bail.

Michelle Rodriguez-Laracuente, 42, was discovered fatally shot last week at her Manoel Silva Street home.

Rodriguez-Laracuente’s two teenage children were in the home at the time of the shooting, authorities said.

Deputies said they responded to Meadow Woods Middle School in reference to a burglary in progress.

Deputies said they found Olivencia-Alvarado at the school and learned there was a warrant out of Osceola County for his arrest.

A 9 millimeter handgun was recovered during Olivencia-Alvarado’s arrest, deputies said. Olivencia-Alvarado cooperated with detectives, authorities said.

Rodriguez-Laracuente had indicated in 2016 that she was in fear of what Olivencia-Alvarado might do and that he had become increasingly aggressive and paranoid, records said.

On one occasion, he punched her for no apparent reason, and she was threatened by him on a regular basis, documents said. A deputy photographed several bruises on her, the report said.

Records said a no contact order was issued, but it canceled several months later when the State Attorney's Office dropped charges.

The judge said Monday that the allegations of domestic violence weighed heavily in her decision to deny Olivencia-Alvarado bail.

"I have no reason to believe that he would not constitute a threat to society," Judge Margaret Schreiber said. "And I'm leaving the bond as set."

He is charged with first-degree murder.

Friends of the victim have created a GoFundMe account for her children.
