Man armed with butcher knife tries to rob Orange County store

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are searching for the suspect who tried to rob a convenient store Saturday morning.

The robbery attempt happened just before 8 a.m. at the Right Fuel & Food at 5500 Beggs Road.

The suspect, a black male, pretended to shop and even went to buy something before jumping the counter, deputies said.

According to investigators, the suspect was armed with a butcher knife and held it to the clerk's throat while demanding money.

Deputies said when a customer walked into the store, the suspect told him to "come here." The customer turned around and left the store, and the suspect also fled, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium build and shoulder length dreadlocks with bleached tips. He has facial hair and appears to be in his late 20's or early 30's.

Deputies released surveillance video of the incident in hopes of catching the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
