KISSIMMEE, Fla.,None — A simple driving mistake left a huge mess at a Osceola County clinic when a driver rammed into the building just after noon Tuesday.
FHP investigators said 79-year-old Jose Martinez accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, which sent his car crashing into the Family Physicians of BVL on Boggy Creek Road in Kissimmee.
People were in the office at the time, but luckily no one was near the crash site when it happened. No one was hurt in the incident.
Those who were in the office at the time of the crash said it sounded like an earthquake, but the office didn't close down after the crash.
Nurses and doctors at the Osceola County clinic sifted through files and cleaned up the rubble. The building has been boarded up, and employees said are trying to get back to normal.
"It's a mess, it's in shambles but we're fixing it up and we'll be fine," said Sophia McCoy of Family Physicians Group.
Skywitness flew over the scene just after it happened, and the entire truck went completely into the clinic.
"It's unbelievable, words can't even describe that when you see that," patient Carole Sessa said.
The crash could have been much worse. Luckily, the physician who's normally in the office every day is on vacation.
Martinez isn't facing any criminal charges. He has been ticketed for careless driving.
