Man found shot to death in Longwood driveway

LONGWOOD, Fla. — A man was found shot to death in the driveway of a home on East Warren Avenue in Longwood, police said Thursday.

Authorities said officers were not able to revive Shahidul Miah, 56, who had been shot once in the upper torso.

Miah's family said his wife found him lying on the driveway. They said initially they didn't know what was wrong with him, until Longwood police arrived and were told he had been shot in the chest.

Miah's children said they believe their father was followed home after leaving the Kwik Mart convenience store on Bear Lake Road.

Authorities said Miah had owned and operated the store for seven years. They said he pulled into his driveway and when he got out of his car he was shot.

"It shouldn't be happening like this. People cannot just be carrying guns like this and shoot people like that. That's not right. We need to find who did it," said Miah's daughter Trina Miah.

No suspect information was released.
