ORLANDO, Fla. — The man shot outside an Orlando nightclub on West Pine Street spoke with Channel 9 Thursday from his hospital bed about the incident.
Ryland Lorelike-Herbert, 26, was celebrating his birthday early Wednesday morning at the Vintage night club when he said he stared down the barrel of a gun before two shots were fired at him.
Herbert said he witnessed an argument and saw two men run off before one returned with a gun and fired into a crowd of people.
"Apparently there was a dispute with one of the girls that we work with," Herbert said. "After two (shots) in the air he pointed the gun back at my face and he shot, but he missed."
He said the gunman shot him in the leg and then Herbert pushed others out of the way before he was hit again the back of the leg.
Orlando police have yet to locate the gunman and other man who drove off in the wrong direction down Garland Street.
Herbert's femur is shattered and the other bullet went through his legs, but left fragments behind. Herbert said his injuries are seriously traumatic, but nothing compared to his life.
"If it has to be that way for nobody else to get hit. I am breathing," Herbert said.
