Man shot, stabbed near Florida mall dies, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center Friday night after a shooting near Florida Mall has died, Orange County Sheriff deputies said.

Deputies said at about 10 p.m., they found Dale Eric Floren, 56, in the parking lot of the 8000 block of South Orange Blossom Trial.

Floren went to the mall property shortly after it had closed for construction work, deputies said.

The man had been shot and stabbed, deputies said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The parking lot area was a construction storage area for work being done at the Florida Mall, deputies said.

"The mall is getting revamped and looks really nice. You couldn't imagine something like that would happen," said shopper Ann Cuevas. "This area is becoming more of a cosmopolitan type area. So it's absolutely shocking that that happened."

No suspect information has been released.

There is a $5,000 Crimeline reward for anyone with information about the homicide. People can call 1-800-423-8477 for tips.
