ORLANDO, Fla. — Did you know that National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held this Saturday, April 24?
Time to gather those unused, unwanted or expired medications and get rid of them in a safe way.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration holds the annual event in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

And chances are, there’s more than one location in your neighborhood where you can safely trash those old prescriptions.

Not only is it a great way to declutter your cabinets -- the DEA says Saturday’s events will give Americans an opportunity to help prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

According to the DEA’s website, a 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Multiple community events providing drop off locations throughout Central Florida will be held April 24 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
