BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Melbourne police say a 32-year-old man was shot several times in the early morning hours of Memorial Day.

Someone called 911 at about 3 a.m. Monday to report gunfire on Mt. Carmel Lane.

Resident Sebastian Myers said he heard gunfire while speaking with a friend on the phone.

"So it was around 3:05," he said. "I was talking with some friends from home, and I heard about five shots. I was like, 'Guys, I think I just heard someone shoot a gun.'"

About 30 minutes later, a second 911 caller said there was a body lying in a driveway.

"There's a guy out there who may be dead," the caller said. "And he's out on the ground, across the street from my house."

A cross now marks the spot where Peter Okoye drew his final breath. No one has been arrested.

Resident Elijah Cantave said his roommate heard five or six gunshots.

"The body was covered up, and I wasn't allowed to go out into the driveway and take out the car," he said. "I'm pretty concerned. I hear the shooter is still out there."

Okoye's friends told Channel 9 that he had visited a gentlemen's club Sunday evening. Police said he worked there.

Police said Okoye had married in March, had children and was a DJ.

Two cars were towed from his home.

Police have not said if the gunman and the suspect knew one another. Officers did not give a description of a possible suspect.
