Church members protest Pastor Tims' replacement

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — The appointment of a new pastor for an Orange County megachurch is being met with protest.

On Thursday night some members of the New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka protested the replacement for former Pastor Zachery Tims.

Tims was found dead in a New York City hotel room in August.

The cause of death has still not been made public.

The protesters disagree with the church's appointment of Tampa-based Pastor Paula White as his replacement.

White leads two churches that have filed for bankruptcy.

The board did not consider Tims' ex-wife, Pastor Riva Tims, as his replacement.

She sent church members a message Thursday night saying, "I would have loved to be a part of the healing process for you. The children and I feel the same concerns many of you have expressed to me."
