Memo commends Orlando police chief's reaction to ‘milk run' scandal

ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 obtained a memo from Orlando’s chief administrative officer to Police Chief John Mina commending him for his honesty when he was questioned about the so-called “milk run” scandal.

In November, Channel 9’s Kathi Belich exposed a lawsuit that uncovered a ritual in which Orlando police officers would cruise around downtown looking for attractive women.

Belich found federal court documents saying that Mina and other top officers went on the alleged "milk runs" on Orange Avenue after their lunch breaks, so they could check out women and ogle their breasts.

It allegedly happened under former Chief Paul Rooney’s watch, but sparked an investigation into Mina.

The memo read, in part, “Any actions or perceptions even inferred by the use of the term ‘milk run’ need to be completely redacted,” and that it’s Mina’s responsibility to ensure that it happens.
