DELAND, Fla. — City officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to unveil the newly built Jackson Lane Memorial Playground in DeLand.

The playground, which was built with accessibility in mind, is located at 720 N. Frankfort Ave. It replaced equipment that was more than two decades old.
City leaders will give remarks prior to the 9 a.m. ceremony.

“We are thrilled to be able to open this new playground for our community to enjoy,” DeLand Mayor Chris Cloudman said. “This is a perfect example of collaboration with Volusia County to create something truly special for our residents. We look forward to watching families enjoy the new playground for many years to come.”

Equipment includes an accessible merry-go-round, a climbing walkway, a stair climber, bongo drums, a dragonfly seesaw and a rope climber.
The city has also added benches and picnic tables. It also refurbished the basketball court and resurfaced the parking lot.
