Mobile home catches fire near Kissimmee

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A family was displaced after a mobile home caught fire Saturday afternoon, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a fire started in the bedroom of a mobile home in the Siesta Lago mobile-home park, near West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.

No one was home when the fire ignited, but a dog was rescued from the residence, said OCFR Battalion Chief George Slack.

Slack said a State Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Eliot Canales lives in the mobile home with his two children and two of his friends.

"I was in the pool when it started," Canales said. "I don't really know what could've happened."

While Canales is grateful no one was injured, he said he lost many of his possessions.

"All my clothes. All my papers. Everything," he said. "My wallet. My phone. My kids' papers. Everything I got."

The American Red Cross helped the five people find housing for the night.
