More details released about fatal Mount Dora shooting

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — An arrest report is offering new details in the shooting that killed a man outside a Mount Dora bar last week.

Police said the prime suspect in the murder case fired the shots that killed Jeremiah Barriner from a moving vehicle.

Police took Jose Margarito Aguirre into custody in San Antonio earlier this week. Two other men are also facing charges.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours last Saturday outside Rodeo Country Music bar.

An arrest report said Fernando Castaneda, 24, was driving a vehicle in the parking lot carrying the accused shooter.

Castaneda had been asked to leave the bar because of an argument.

The report said the victim, Barriner, was standing in the parking lot with his girlfriend and brother when they heard someone shouting. They turned to see a vehicle speed by and claimed Aguirre opened fire four to five times.

Documents said Castaneda drove away and failed to report the incident for three days.

He’s now facing a principle to murder charge.

Richard Herrera, 24, is accused of filing a false report.

Police records said Herrera provided the gun used in the shooting and later filed a false burglary report.

Police said Aguirre’s father ground down the gun to destroy it and prevent it from being used as evidence.

Castaneda and Herrera remain behind bars in Lake County

Mount Dora police said the last shooting at the bar happened in February 2012.
