New 10,000-square-foot community center set to open in Tangelo Park

Orange County’s ninth community center will offer youth mentoring, a computer lab, basketball court and swimming pool

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new community center opening Wednesday in Tangelo Park will offer youth mentoring, job placement assistance and life skills programs.

Orange County will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Tangelo Park Community Action Center at 9 a.m. Oct. 14 at 5160 Pueblo St. in Orlando.

The nearly 10,000-square-foot facility will include a computer lab, an indoor basketball court, an outdoor swimming pool and a multipurpose room that can accommodate more than 300 people, according to the county.

Mayor Jerry Demings and District 6 Commissioner Mike Scott are scheduled to speak, along with Tangelo Park community leaders and residents.

The facility will become Orange County’s ninth county-run community center. The county said its Community Action Centers provide neighborhood programs, resources and services to more than 250,000 residents each year.
