APOPKA, Fla. — Officials in Apopka authorized four additional department head roles on Friday following debate over a high-earning hire earlier this year.

The action follows the city’s recruitment of a spokesperson at a $180,000 salary.

Under the new roles, the incoming human resources director will earn an identical $180,000, while newly appointed chief financial officer Marcel Lee is slated for a $210,000 salary.

The action comes as city and county leaders around Central Florida are voicing concerns over Floridians approving property tax reform Amendment 3.
