ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — We are monitoring a new potential area in the southwest Gulf that could develop by the end of the week.
The area is located near the Bay of Campeche, and computer models continue to indicate possible development in this region.
Right now, nothing is located in this zone, and it would be days until a potential complex organizes.
The National Hurricane Center is giving this area a 40% chance of development, and a tropical depression could form late week.
At this time, any system would likely drift north and northeast, potentially impacting the northern Gulf coast region by next weekend.
There is high uncertainty about a potential track or development, with some models not indicating any organization.
Because of its location, this is one area that will be monitored over the next several days.
Stay with Severe Weather Center 9 for the latest on the tropics all season long.
